ARS scientists have developed improved guayule plants for rubber production.

In 2018, the Agricultural Research Service’s scientific accomplishments were a testament to the creativity, expertise and commitment of its scientists. Among the innovative solutions this year are rubber tires made from guayule (a flowering desert shrub), a health-promoting flour made from discarded grape seeds, and a new cotton gauze that quickly controls bleeding and promotes wound healing.
