ARS researchers are studying genetics of the African Baobab tree, the national symbol of Senegal. This “Tree of Life” provides essential resources for communities, wildlife, and the environment. It is also being threatened by climate change, drought, and human activities. By studying genetics of the sacred tree, researchers hope to determine how to protect the “Tree of Life” for generations to come.
